<itunes:summary>Zedekiah turns AND burns!
Zedekiah came to God because he had a self&#45;identified need.
&#45;	his perception was that God could meet that need
&#45;	pulled him out of his tool belt
&#45;	began to use him as a tool
&#45;	it blew up in his face.
&#45;	God wasn’t going to be treated like that

The assumption is that what I want is the most important thing:
&#45;	I want to be happy
&#45;	I want to be free
&#45;	I want to be healed
&#45;	I want a better job
&#45;	I want out of this marriage
&#45;	I want a better feeling of success in life
That is not a gospel understanding
It comes from a world that has self satisfaction at its core.</itunes:summary>

Think about this:
Western understanding is suffering = poop
&#45;	Not just senseless, but repugnant and disgusting. A toxic element of life to be avoided at all costs
When does it happen?
&#45;	Just happens
&#45;	Random and senseless, like a drive by shooting, taking out victims unexpectedly, without reason or provocation
So we end up with a western view that says that all suffering is toxic and there never is a reason for it.
&#45;	Now bring that into Christian circles and what have you got?
&#45;	A Jesus who fixes that
Like a cosmic ointment that cures all ills</itunes:summary>

<description>Confidence in Christ &#45; When Paul says:
I consider it a loss
&#45;	Everything that I once thought was to my profit
&#45;	Everything that’s now chasing me
&#45;	Everything that I invited into my life
&#45;	When I thought I was smart or clever or cool
&#45;	Everything that came from my failures and weaknesses and terrible accidents
I don’t want to put my confidence there
I want to gain Christ and be found in him.</description>
